A Woman Walks Down the Street, by Carolita Johnson
Unfortunately, most women know this scene too well. Such is life.
Comment from the Cartoonist:
If you were a woman you’d know that men say these things deliberately to engage you and to contrive literally to force you to respond to them. And they do it about every ten feet. How many times can a woman find it a pleasure to be accosted as she walks to work? How many times before you’d want to just scream? How many times would you like your female relative (sister, mother, daughter) to respond in a friendly manner to some dude she doesn’t know from Adam who’s hanging around on the sidewalk blessing women he thinks is beautiful?
The addition of “God bless you” is the most annoying part of the whole attempt to engage a woman’s attention and MAKE her respond. It always makes me want to say, I did not sneeze. Or , who are you? The Pope?
And lastly, the transformation into the aggressive intimidator at the end just shows you what the true face of the “complimenter” is.-
